Day 1: We nearly stranded at the border to Poland

When our train stopped at Frankfurt/Oder before crossing the border to Poland we heard the announcement: „This train will stop here until further notice. There is a problem on the next track section”.

Well, that was bad news because we had only one possible connection to reach the Ukrainian border in time to catch the train to Lviv.

After weighing our options we decided to take a taxi from Frankfurt/Oder to Rzepin in order to catch IC 8304 to Przemysl.

The driver was really keen on taking us there in time and after a smooth border crossing over the Oder river and a couple of daredevil-like overtaking manoeuvres he dropped us in time at the train station of Rzeptin. We finally caught our connection towards Ukraine. That was a really close call!

Our comfortable compartment is located next to the Bar-coach so we will probably never run out of coffee for the remaining 8 hour journey to Przemysl.

There we will change the train again to travel to Lviv later tonight.
